Privacy policy
Last updated 6 November 2026
This policy explains what information Ganttry (“we”) handles when you use the Ganttry app at app.ganttry.org and this website, why, where it is kept, and the choices you have. Questions go to [email protected].
In short
- Your projects are files in your own Google Drive. We do not keep a separate copy of your Drive.
- Ganttry only has access to Drive files you create with it or choose to open with it.
- For live co-editing, our server keeps a working copy of projects that are open on Drive, and deletes it after 90 days without changes.
- Microsoft Project .mpp files you import are converted on our server and deleted straight away.
- If you sign up, we keep a small account: who you are with Google, your plan, and whether we may write to you.
- We count how often features are used, as daily totals, never what is in your projects.
- We do not sell your data, show ads, or use tracking or analytics cookies.
Trying Ganttry without signing up
You can try the app without an account. Your project then stays in your own browser’s storage and is never sent to us, except a Microsoft Project file you choose to open, which is converted and deleted straight away. To keep conversions fair, our server remembers your internet address in memory for an hour; it is not written down.
This website
The MPP viewer and converter on this website send the file you choose to Ganttry’s converter, which reads it and deletes it straight away, as described above. Converting to XML hands the result back to your browser; opening in Ganttry passes the file to the app in a new tab. We count how many files were converted, as a daily total.
We count visits to this website with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies, does not follow you across sites, and gives us only totals such as page views and the countries visits come from.
Your Ganttry account
When you sign up, we keep:
- your Google account’s id, name and email address;
- when you signed up, your plan and until when it runs, and whether you are a founding member of the beta;
- your invitation code, and who invited you, if anyone, so both of you get your free month;
- whether you agreed that we may write to you about Ganttry;
- your answer to our one survey question, if you give one.
When we give someone free access, we also keep the email address or company domain it is for, the plan, until when, and a short note, even before that person signs up.
We use this to provide your plan, to run the beta and invitations, and, if you agreed, to write to you now and then. We keep it as long as you have an account; ask us and we delete it.
Usage counts and feedback
The app tells our server when a few things happen, such as opening the app, saving to Drive, importing or exporting a file, or printing. We keep these as totals per day. To count how many people were active on a day, we keep which accounts were active for 7 days, then only the number. Nothing about what is in your projects is counted.
When you send feedback from the app, we keep your message, its type, the app version and, if you are signed in, your email address, so we can reply. We keep messages as long as they help improve Ganttry, at most two years.
Information from your Google account
When you connect Google Drive, Google asks you to allow Ganttry access with the drive.file permission. It covers only the files you create with Ganttry or open with it, for example through the Google file picker. With it, Ganttry:
- creates, reads and saves your project files in Google Drive;
- lists the Ganttry projects in your Drive, so you can open them;
- reads files you choose to import, such as Microsoft Project files;
- reads your name, email address and profile photo from Google Drive, to show the other people editing a project with you who is there; this is passed on live and not stored;
- checks whether you may edit or only view a project file, so the live session can respect Google Drive sharing.
Ganttry does not see any other files in your Drive, your email, calendar or contacts.
Ganttry’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use this information only to provide Ganttry’s features to you; we do not use it for advertising, do not sell it, do not use it to train AI models, and do not let people read it except with your permission, for security, or where the law requires it.

Who else is involved
- Google provides sign-in, Google Drive where your projects are stored, and the cloud server Ganttry runs on.
- Cloudflare delivers this website and the app and protects them from attacks.
We do not share your information with anyone else, except where the law requires it. When paid plans start, a payment provider will handle payments; we will update this policy before that happens.
Cookies
Ganttry sets no cookies of its own and uses no advertising or analytics cookies. Cloudflare may set a technical cookie to protect the site from automated attacks, and Google sets its own cookies when you sign in with Google.
Your choices and rights
- You can disconnect Ganttry from your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- You can delete your projects in Google Drive like any other file.
- You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete your account and the working copies on our server, by writing to [email protected].
- Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under data protection law, such as the GDPR in Europe or the Privacy Act in Australia, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Security
All connections to Ganttry are encrypted. The live session admits only people Google Drive lets open the project, and read-only for people who may only view it. The server holds no Google passwords and no long-lived access to your Drive.
Children
Ganttry is meant for work use and not directed at children under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for important changes, tell users in the app.
